โรงแรมศิริโฮเต็ล Sirihotel Korat
A plain Phoklang Road base for driving to Phimai, with karaoke downstairs
About this hotel
Sirihotel Korat sits on Phoklang Road, one of the main streets of Nakhon Ratchasima, roughly a 15-minute walk from the Thao Suranari Monument, the city's best-known landmark, and from the Terminal 21 Korat shopping centre. The building is dated, and rooms are plain: air-conditioning, a TV, a fridge and an en-suite bathroom with a shower. Listings show standard rooms of about 22 m², a family room of the same size with two king beds, and superior rooms of about 32 m². Several guests find the rooms smaller than expected, and some rooms have no window. Downstairs there is a café, a restaurant and karaoke. Free parking helps if you plan to drive to Phimai Historical Park, about 60 km north-east along Highway 2 and then Highway 206. There is no swimming pool.

Our take
Sirihotel Korat stands at 688-690 Phoklang Road, close enough to walk to the Thao Suranari Monument and Terminal 21 Korat in about 15 minutes each way. Guests rate it 8.1 from 586 reviews: they praise clean rooms and a convenient street, but the building is dated, rooms are smaller than many expect and some have no window. There is a café, a restaurant and karaoke, but no pool. I would book it as a one- or two-night stop for a family driving to Phimai or onward into Isan. I would not choose it for a longer stay with young children, who will miss a pool in the heat.
- When you book, ask for a room with a window: several guests report being given a windowless room.
- Leave for Phimai Historical Park early: it is about 60 km north-east along Highway 2 and Highway 206, and the stone sanctuary is easier to visit before midday heat.
- The Thao Suranari Monument, about 15 minutes on foot, honours Ya Mo, the heroine of Korat; locals leave offerings there, so dress and behave as you would at a shrine.
- Wat Sala Loi, about 3.7 km from the hotel, is a short drive with the free parking: its ordination hall is built in the shape of a Chinese junk.
Why we love it
- On Phoklang Road, about 15 minutes on foot from the Thao Suranari Monument
- Free parking for a road trip to Phimai, about 60 km away
- Family room for four people
- Café, restaurant and karaoke on site
Why guests love itSirihotel's family room sleeps four in two king beds, but at about 22 m² it is the same size as a standard room: practical for keeping children in the same room, tight once the bags are open. For more space, a superior room of about 32 m², or two rooms, works better. The hotel is a practical overnight base: air-conditioning, a fridge for drinks and milk, and a restaurant downstairs so nobody has to go out again after a long drive. What it lacks is a pool, which matters in the hot season that the Thai Meteorological Department dates from mid-February to mid-May. Walking to the Thao Suranari Monument or Terminal 21 takes about 15 minutes along busy streets, so with a pushchair a short taxi ride is easier.
