Green Hotel and Resort
A three-star on Prachasamosorn Road, 1.8 km from Thung Sang Lake, with a conference hall and no pool despite the name
About this hotel
Green Hotel and Resort stands at 179/160 Prachasamosorn Road, in the Nai Muang district of Khon Kaen, and despite the word resort it is a city hotel built around meetings and practical stays. None of the listings I checked show a swimming pool, so families who want a swim should look elsewhere. What it does offer is a conference hall, meeting rooms, banquet space and a business centre, plus karaoke and the Green Zone Restaurant, which covers Thai, Chinese and Western dishes. Rooms come with air conditioning, a cable flat-screen TV, a fridge and an en suite shower, and the hotel can arrange an airport pick-up. Thung Sang Lake and its park are about 1.8 km away for a morning walk, and private parking is on site for drivers touring Isan.

Our take
Green Hotel and Resort is a three-star meetings hotel on Prachasamosorn Road, and the word resort in its name is the first thing to ignore: none of the listings I checked show a pool. I would book it for a work trip to Khon Kaen, a conference in its own hall, or an overnight base when driving through Isan with a car to park. Its 8.1 score across 151 reviews points to rooms that do the job and a restaurant with Thai, Chinese and Western dishes. I would not book it for a family holiday or a relaxing break: there is no pool, and Bueng Kaen Nakhon and the nine-storey stupa at Wat Nong Wang mean a taxi or Grab ride.
- Do not book on the strength of the word resort: no swimming pool appears in the hotel's listings, so choose another Khon Kaen hotel if a pool matters.
- For a morning walk or run, Thung Sang Lake and its park are about 1.8 km from the hotel, closer than the better-known Bueng Kaen Nakhon.
- Go to Phra Mahathat Kaen Nakhon at Wat Nong Wang, the 80-metre, nine-storey stupa beside Bueng Kaen Nakhon, and climb to the observation deck on its ninth floor.
- Book the hotel's airport pick-up together with the room, which saves hunting for a taxi at Khon Kaen Airport after a late flight.
Why we love it
- A conference hall and meeting rooms under the same roof as the bedrooms
- Three cuisines at the Green Zone Restaurant
- Thung Sang Lake park close by for a morning walk
- An airport pick-up the hotel can arrange
Why guests love itI would not choose Green Hotel and Resort for a family holiday, and the reason is simple: no pool appears in its listings, and no kids' club or play area either. For a family in transit through Khon Kaen, though, it works as a single overnight stop. Rooms have a fridge for milk and snacks, the Green Zone Restaurant cooks Thai, Chinese and Western dishes for children who want something familiar, and private parking helps on a road trip. For an afternoon out, Thung Sang Lake park is about 1.8 km away, and the nine-storey stupa at Wat Nong Wang, where children can climb to the ninth-floor viewpoint, is a short drive across town.
